While deforestation has become a growing global problem, Europe seems to have reversed developments through insight and dedication. In the last 25 years, Europe’s forests have grown by approx. 90,000 square kilometres, equivalent to an area the size of Portugal. However, this growth is unevenly distributed across the continent with implications for wildlife and diversity in some regions. And since it is further important to replant with the right types, there is still a lot of work to be done.
