The North American pine tree is found all over the continent in more than 115 varieties and can grow more than 60 meters tall. In the past, giant forests existed in the northern part, but due to massive and industrialized felling, they dwindled and there were few old trees left that could supply the timber industry. Through a targeted effort over 75 years, the forests are again in a positive development and thrive in most places in North America.
